MARC J. CAIRO
Born August 22, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois. Marc was raised in Highland Park, Illinois. Marc received his Bachelor Degree in 1992 from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.A. Speech Communication and Spanish minor). He thereafter graduated from DePaul University College of Law (J.D. 1995). Marc was admitted to the Illinois Bar in November 1995.
Marc has always focused his practice in the area of Workers’ Compensation and related employment areas. After starting his practice as an advocate for injured workers, Marc quickly realized his skills and personal interests were better suited to represent management interests. Marc joined Garofalo, Schreiber, Hart & Storm, Chtd. in 2007 and became a shareholder of the firm in 2009. Marc focuses his practice on defense through litigation and negotiation of workers’ compensation cases and consulting business clients in human resources and employment issues. Marc has tried numerous cases before the arbitrators at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and argued numerous appeals before the Commission, Circuit Courts and Appellate Court throughout the state.
Marc has published multiple articles on various areas of Illinios Workers’ Compensation law and practice. He has been an invited speaker on this topic by the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, Lorman Educational Services and various clients and associations throughout Illinois. He is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association – WCLA Section, Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Marc was the 2003-2004 Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section. Marc is also an active member of a state construction association where he offers his time and assistance to many companies in the construction industry.
